Sadie Pearl Grate, 79, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021 peacefully. She was born on December 26, 1941 in Sidon, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Freddie Donald and Nettie Will Gray. Sadie was an employee at Colgate Palmolive in Jeffersonville, Indiana for 19 years, retiring in 1996 and a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She loved crocheting, sewing, and playing table card games. Sadie made a great number of friends and was dearly loved by so many for her smile, generosity, kind heart, and love for being in good company. Sadie was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Donald; and a sister, Mattie Dean. Her survivors include her daughter, Starzette Grate of New Albany, Indiana; a son, Phillip (Karen) Grate of Atlanta, Georgia; one granddaughter, Lauren Wyatt; and six sisters, Lillie Sowell of New Albany, Indiana, Bessie Kirkpatrick of New Albany, Indiana, Gladys (Conrad) Brent of Louisville, Kentucky, Detira Allen of Clarksville, Indiana, Sylvia (Lionel) Bishop of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Sarah Ebet Rogers of New Albany, Indiana. Services were requested and entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
