Sarah D. Blanton, 81, of Austin, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Scott Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 18, 1938 in Lost Creek, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Farmer Deaton and Lilly (Kilburn) Deaton. Sarah was married on Oct. 25, 1952 to Harley Blanton. She retired as the manager and was a cook for the Austin High School Cafeteria in Austin, Indiana, where she worked for 33 years. Sarah was a member of the First Christian Church in Scottsburg, Indiana and volunteered for many years for the Scott Memorial Hospital Guild. In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Deaton; five sisters, Bertha Baker, Laura Begley, Minnie Davidson, Flossie Witten and Jewell Sebastian. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Harley Blanton; three sons, John Blanton and his wife Willa of Austin, Indiana, Jim Blanton and his wife Diana of Scottsburg, Indiana and Jerry Blanton and his wife Susan of Woodstock, Georgia; a sister, Sirilda Terry of Austin, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Blanton, Chris Garten (Beth), Brian Blanton (Michaela), Jordan Blanton (Alissa), Jarrod and Kylie Blanton and Laura Barrett Montano and several great grandchildren.
