Shirley Ann Payton Noel

Shirley Ann Payton Noel, 71, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at Lake Pointe Villiage in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on March 13, 1955, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Oldam Lee Payton and Emma Louise Allison. Shirley devoted her life to caring for others and embraced her role as a caregiver with grace and dedication. Her warmth and nurturing spirit touched the lives of many, creating bonds that will be cherished forever. She is survived by her devoted longtime companion, Gilbert Noel, whom she lovingly referred to as her soulmate. Together, they created countless memories, from quiet evenings spent watching movies to serene moments of porch sitting, where they would enjoy the beauty of nature and the songs of the birds. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Judy Limbrick.She is survived by her brother Donald (Ilene) Payton and her brother-in-law Mike Limbrick. Shirley will be deeply missed by her daughter, Carrie (Danny) Myers; son, Raymond Sondergeld Jr.; bonus daughters, Connie (Tim Mount) Sturgill and Jeannie (Rick) Banda; her step children Jeff Noel,Shawn Noel, Leslie Noel, and Kevin (Candy) Noel; grandchildren Kimber (Will Neace) Myers, Danny Myers Jr., Jordan Myers, Kayla Richey, David Banda, Kylie Banda, Christina Bowles, Bailey (Ean) Lakins, Grace Noel, Lillian Noel, Kody Noel, Lucas Noel,Whitney Noel Hague and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral service for Shirley will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 1:00pm at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be prior to the service on Thursday, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Scaffold Lick Cemetery near Blocher, Indiana
