Stephen T. "Steve" Thevenow, 68, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 24, 2020. He was born on March 4, 1952 in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of the late Tommy Thevenow and Mary Louise (Williams) Thevenow. Steve went to school in Madison and graduated from Madison High School. He was a former employee of the old K-Cord Company in Scottsburg, Indiana. Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jess and Billy Thevenow. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Gearleen (Davidson) Thevenow; two sons, Michael Sawyer and Eric Helton (Sarah) all of Scottsburg, Indiana; three daughters, Kathy Howell, Julie Donovan (Pat) and Debra Smith (Tony) all of Scottsburg, Indiana; a sister-in-law, Loretta Thevenow of Madison, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Jacob Howell, Amanda Hopkins, Mackenzie Donovan, Nathan Sawyer, Shyla Yates, Meranda Morris, Haley Beckwith, Carly and Cadee Helton; nine great grandchildren, Gracie Hopkins, Tristen and Colton Howell, Myles Sawyer, Molly Yates, Lexi, Bella and Elijah Morris and Evie Fairchild; a nephew, Jess Thevenow, Jr; a great nephew, Rubin Thevenow and his dog, Rabbit. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Jacob Howell officiating. Visitation: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate.
