Steven Roy Trabue

Steven Roy Trabue, 79, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 2, 1947, in Scottsburg, Indiana, Steve was the beloved son of Roy James and Barbara JeanTrabue. He was known throughout the community for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and dedication to both his family and his profession.

Steve was the owner and operator of Steve's Body Shop for nearly 50 years, earning a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, honesty, and hard work. His commitment to excellence made him well known and respected by customers and friends alike. In addition to operating his business, Steve served as a 304 inspector for United Midwestern Promoters (UMP), ( the organization was acquired by the World Racing Group and currently operates under the DIRTCAR Racing Banner).

Family was the center of Steve's life. He treasured every moment spent with those he loved and created countless memories that will be cherished forever. Outside of work, Steve had a lifelong passion for motorsports. He enjoyed racing dirt cars, proudly driving his No. 72 car, and founded the Water Tower Speedway go-kart track, where he shared his love of racing with family, friends, and the community.

Steve also believed in serving others. He proudly served as President of the Finley Township Volunteer Fire Department, dedicating his time and leadership to protecting and supporting his community.Steve is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Sue Trabue; son, Darren James Walton Trabue(Brittney Palmer); sister, Jody Trabue; brothers, Jim Trabue(Yvonne), Tim Trabue(Alanna Reece); grandson, Wesley Dalton James Trabue(Emma); nephew, Cody Trabue(Beth); niece, Amanda Trabue, both of Scottsburg.There will be a visitation held on Thursday, Aug 6, 2026 from 2-6pm with service to start at 6pm at Collins Funeral Home.
