Thelma L. Bowling, 82, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at The Waters of Scottsburg in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on February 3, 1942 in Cox Creek, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Jesse Lee Bogard and Margaret Ellen (Snawder) Bogard. On October 25, 1973 she married Denver Kenneth Bowling, who survives. She was was a member of Lexington Presbyterian Church, an employee of Cummins Engine Company, and Denver and Thelma were also long time members of the local Republican Party. Thelma enjoyed cooking, planting a vegetable garden, canning, listening to Elvis, and traveling. They made several trips to Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, enjoyed skiing, and were horse trainers and had a couple horses race at Churchill Downs. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Scifres; and three brothers Lawrence Bogard, Marvin Bogard, and David Bogard. Survivors include her husband Denver Kenneth Bowling; one son, Robert David (Amanda) Bowling of Lexington, Indiana; one stepdaughter, Yolanda Brady of Scottsburg, Indiana; four sisters, Margo (Tom) McCandless of Scottsburg, Indiana, Rachel (Harold) Rutherford of Scottsburg, Indiana, Wanda of Las Vegas, Nevada, Theresa (Ronnie) Rice of Texas; four grandchildren, Sophia Bowling, Rylan Bowling, Tasha Campbell, and Tyler Brady; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Pastor Aaron Flucke officiating. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home. Cremation was entrusted to Collins Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions to Donor's Choice.
