Obituary

Thomas A. Spall, 89, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at his residence. He was born on February 11, 1932 in Plaza, North Dakota, the son of the late Arnie M. Spall and Mary (Martin) Spall. Tom graduated from Crothersville High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was married on Sept. 4, 1959 to Sandra Sue (Craig) Spall, who preceded him in death on March 17, 2006. Tom was a retired supervisor for the old American Can Company in in Austin, Indiana, where he worked for 38 years and was also a farmer. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially raccoon and coyote hunting. In addition to his parents and his wife, Tom was preceded in death by a daughter, Karol Spall; a sister, Phyllis Mashburn; a granddaughter and two great grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Tommy Spall (Susan) of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Shawn Spall (Sandi) and Chris Spall (Tonya) all of Seymour, Indiana; a sister, Pat Kautsky of Naples, Florida; nine grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. Graveside Service: 11:00 am on Wednesday. March 10, 2021 at Scottsburg Cemetery with Matt Craig officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Interment with military honors will be in Scottsburg Cemetery. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed and will be limited to 50 people in the building. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Christian Church Bereavement Fund c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
