Velma Deaton, 94, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Lake Pointe Village in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on July 25, 1926 in Salem, Indiana, the daughter of the late Howard Lawrin Corn and Hazel (Bane) Corn. Velma was life resident of Washington and Scott Counties Velma and graduated from Little York High School in the Class of 1945. She was a retired laborer for the old Pactiv Metal Company in Salem, Indiana and also worked and retired from the fabric department at Walmart in Scottsburg, Indiana. Velma loved to embroider, sew and making quilts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Glen Deaton on August 2, 2018. Survivors include a grandson, Michael Deaton and his wife Brenda of Scottsburg, Indiana and three great grandchildren, Brandon James, Joshua Glen and Vivian Grace Deaton. Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 pm on Thursday and after 10 am on Friday at Collins Funeral Home. Visitation and funeral services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed.
