Velva L. Hedgspeth, 83, of Austin, Indiana passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on August 13, 1937 in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Philip and Gertrude (Barr) Fisher. On November 19, 1955 she married Rev. Charles Colemen Hedgspeth, who passed away February 6, 2005. She was a member of the Empowerment Community Church. Velva enjoyed cooking and sewing. She loved watching all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, family was the most important thing to Velva. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tangie Crusott; two brothers, Charlie and Manual; and two sisters, Leona and Aileen. Survivors include: daughter, Mary L. Decker of Scottsburg, Indiana; son, Charles C. Hedgspeth of Austin, Indiana; sister, Linda Nowel of Fairdale, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Melissa (Jason) Foster, Tina Dingess, Beth (Roger) Levesque, Collin and Clair Crusott, Chris Mcgill, and Angelique Fackler; four great grandchildren, Coleman (Chelsea) Foster, Hannah Foster, Isaiah and Connor Chadwick; and three great great grandchildren, Remi, Ella, and Waylon Foster.
