Vernon Neace, 83, of Deputy, Indiana passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at his residence. He was born on September 25, 1937 in Manuel, Kentucky, the son of the late Rufus and Alma (Noble) Neace. Vernon retired after 20 years as a Senior Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He also had worked at the old DeHart and Baxter Lumber Yards and was the owner of the old Precision Lumber Company in Deputy, Indiana. Vernon was a member of the Alpha Baptist, was a former member of the Crothersville VFW Post # 183 and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Shirley Neace; two daughters, Patricia (Johnny) Neace of Deputy, Indiana and Marar Coker of Scottsburg, Indiana; a son, Bruce Edward (Juanita) Neace of Deputy, Indiana; a stepson, Dennis (Autumn) Hauff of Deputy, Indiana; two stepdaughters, Anita (D.J.) Lovegrove of Scottsburg, Indiana and Shirlene (Marvin) Spencer of Roanoke, Indiana; a sister, Mildred (Richard) Smith of Austin, Indiana; a brother, J.W. (Ollie) Neace of Deputy, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Vernon was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Neace; a son, Vernon Neace, Jr.; a great grandson, Kane Lucas; four sisters, Mary Ella Chambers, Rosa M., Norma L. and Allie F. Neace and a brother, Rickie Neace. In keeping with his wishes, cremation services were entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
