Virgil Alva Vaughn, Jr., 79, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at his residence with his family by his side. Junior was born on October 30, 1942, in Evansville, Indiana, the son of the late Virgil Alva Vaughn Sr. and Classie Mae (Ferguson) Vaughn. He retired from the Alaskan Pipeline after twenty-eight years. Virgil then started farming pecan nuts. It was a great passion project for Junior. Virgil was known as "the nut man" to his friends and was an active member of the Indiana Nut Growers Association. On January 28, 1995, he married his wife, Neda Ann (Applegate) Vaughn, who survives. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Donald Delbert, Larry Gene, and Ghillis Dean Vaughn. In addition to his wife, Neda Vaughn, he is survived by two sons, Roger Wayne Vaughn and Michael Todd (Carla) Cutshall both of Scottsburg, Indiana; sister, Tonia "Tonie" Annette (Kenneth "Kenny" Paul) Haymore of Hampton, Virginia; and three grandchildren, Stacey, Cory, and Kyle Cutshall. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Friday, June 10, 2022, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Pastor Ralph Blomenberg officiating. Visitation: 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, June 9, 2022, and after 10:00 am Friday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment to follow services at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
