Wayne Dale Johnson, 91, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Hampton Oaks Health Campus. He was born on January 21, 1929 in Austin, Indiana, the son of the late Emmett and Mary (Thompson) Johnson. Dale graduated from Austin High School. He was a retired payroll clerk for B.F. Goodrich Company in Salem, Indiana, where he worked for 28 years. After retirement, he continued to work at several other places including John Jones Car Dealership, Orscheln Farm and Home Supply, Kimballs in Borden and the Grand Rental Station. Dale was a member of the Little York United Methodist Church and served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force. He was a Charter Member of the Gibson Township Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the old American Legion Mt. Wilson Post in Little York, Indiana. Dale was a private pilot and enjoyed flying. He also liked reading and learning history, being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Dale loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerold "J.J." and Marvin Johnson. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Juanita (Mount) Johnson; three sons, Steve Johnson (Paula) and David Johnson all of Scottsburg, Indiana and Gary Johnson (Rhonda) of Salem, Indiana; a brother, Ronald Johnson (Wanda) of Indianapolis, Indiana; a sister, Marilou Baldwin of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren, Matthew Johnson (Lindsey), Jordan Johnson (Dara), Emily Richards (Josh), Zachary Johnson and Molly Nice (Trevor) and five great grandchildren, Stella, Owen, Emma and Norah Richards and Lennon Nice. Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the Little York United Methodist Church with Reverend Stan Mohler and Reverend Jerry Wheeler officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday at Collins Funeral Home and after 9:30 am on Saturday at the Little York United Methodist Church. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate. Interment will be in Mount Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
