Will Anthony Sampson, beloved husband and father, age 59, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away at Norton Scott Hospital on Friday February 13,2026, leaving a void his family cannot fill.
He was born in Seymour, Indiana in 1966 to Virl And Joyce Sampson. Will graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1985. While there he went to Prosser Career Education Center for Culinary Arts. While his chefs dreams never materialized, he loved being in the kitchen cooking up creations for his family and friends. He loved to work with his hands, which lead him to working at Austin Hardware and opening up his own roofing company with his brother in law before becoming disabled in the mid 90s.
Will was known as a jack of all trades, but a master at none. His love of electronics passed down to both of his boys. He even attended college courses in electronic. Will loved to be creative, a trait he passed down to his kids. Whether it writing poetry, drawing, or woodworking he loved to keep his hands busy. He was an avid gamer, didn’t matter what type. He loved card games, board games, video games, but his favorite was probably role playing games. His Dungeon and Dragons group made up of friends and family still meet every week to play. He loved volunteering at conventions around gaming such as Gen Con and Total Con. There he would welcome everyone with a joke or a quest. He had been attending Gen Con since he graduated high school. Along with his wife they had been volunteering for over 30 years. His love of Gen Con was passed down to all 3 of his kids and helped the whole family to win the Diesel LaForce Extraordinary Service Award in 2003 for all their hard work and dedication to the convention.
Will was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his adoring wife of 39 years, Tammy Sampson. His 3 kids; Daughter, Amber Sampson (Fred Wilson), Sons, Katlin Sampson (Kaitlyn) and William Sampson. Siblings: Brother, Steven Sampson (Tamara), Sister, Katie Creech (Dallas), Brother, Travis Sampson (Tammie). Along with many (truly too many to count) Brother/sister in laws, nieces and nephews, and “grandkids”.
