Obituary

Willie Mullins The Mayor of Plum Street in Austin, died Sunday December 1st at St. Francis hospital in Indianapolis, In. Willie was born in Chavies, Kentucky on March 12, 1953, to Dailey Mullins and Gora (Fugate) Mullins. Willie graduated from Austin High School in 1971, much to the relief of the High School Staff. Willie spent many years as a single man and living the high life. From hitch hiking to San Francisco as a teenager to "Hang with the Hippies" to many Wild times at The Bean Blossom Boogie or THE PUB, Willie lived life to the fullest. Willie was a talented Blues Harmonica player and played at many local establishments including the old Tony's and Pauly's to music venues outside our area. He was a skilled automotive mechanic and Classic Car and Motorcycle Customizer and had completed many vehicles that were considered works of art and won many trophies. His greatest achievement being the complete restoration of his father's 1946 Knucklehead Harley Davidson. Willie was also one of the best tri-axle dump truck drivers in this area. Over the years many Constructions Forman would call and specifically request Willie to bring them gravel because he could " Spread it as smooth as glass".  Willie met Diane Eads in 1995 and in 1997 they were married. The two remained best friends and partners in crime for 28 years. Willie is survived by his wife Diane Eads Mullins, his stepdaughter Lacey Money (Nic) grandchildren Hannah and Alex Money and Hailey and Devon Stone. His beloved sister Bonita (the baby) and her husband David, Nieces Brandi Moses, Cortny Moses (Paul) and nephew Carl Allen Moses (Staci) and several great nieces and nephews, and cousins. Willie is also survived by his cherished fur babies Patsy and Pearl. A celebration of life for Willie Mullins will be held Saturday December 28th at 1 PM at The Scott County VFW. If you would like to bring a covered dish, please contact Teresa White she is coordinating the food. Anyone that would like to drive their Hot Rod or Motorcycle please coordinate with Shannon Anderson. In June of 2025 - Willie's ashes will be escorted to his families homeplace in Chavies, Kentucky. His ashes will then be, and I quote from Willie's words " Thrown into the East Fork of The Kentucky River" Then in old fashioned family tradition a June Meeting will be held on the family's grounds. A picnic and tall tales and fond memories to be shared. A scholarship for a 2025 Austin High School Senior has been established with a prerequisite of having attended Prosser Vocational School during high school and going to attend a trade school after graduation, as Willie was an advocate of non-traditional education. If you would like to donate, please send to Willie Mullins Scholarship C/O Austin High School or Collins Funeral Home can take your scholarship donation or just bring it to the Celebration of Life. Please join us as we celebrate "Wild Willie".  Obituary was prepared by his loving wife.  Online condolences and additional information can be found at www.collinsfuneralhome.net.
