Timothy Borden

Tim Borden is the President and Owner of Collins Funeral Home. Tim started in the funeral business at the age of 16 at Collins Funeral Home. After graduating from Mid-America College of Funeral Service, Tim served his internship at Flanner and Buchanan Mortuaries in Indianapolis. Tim is also a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Indiana, Kentucky, and Michigan. In 1995, Tim started his own mortuary service in Louisville, Kentucky, Borden Mortuary. Currently, Tim serves on the Board of Trustees of Pierce Mortuary Colleges and is a member of the Indiana Funeral Directors Association. Locally, to Scottsburg, Tim is a member of the Scottsburg Lions Club, Moose Family Center #2324, and still holds his hometown church membership at the United Methodist Church. Tim is a past President of CANA (The Cremation Association of North America). He is also the past Chairman of the British Institute of Embalmers (North American Division). Tim and his wife, Patty, have three children, Tim II, Grant, and Brooklyn. They look forward to serving the Scott County area and are excited to be back in town.

Kevin R. Collins
Former Owner
Kevin has been employed at the firm since 1985. He graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1980 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985 from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. He then entered Mid-America College of Funeral Service graduating with an Associate Degree in Mortuary Science. He is currently an Indiana licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, certified Medicolegal Death Investigator and licensed insurance agent. In 1988, he married the former Kim Newport and they are the parents of three daughters, Kelsie, Madeline, and Mollie.
Kevin served as Coroner and Chief Deputy Coroner of Scott County for many years and is currently a Deputy Coroner, serves as President of the Scottsburg Cemetery Association, Board member for the Scottsburg Building & Loan and is President of the Scottsburg Senior Housing Corporation, also known as Craig Park. He has also served for many years on the Board of Trustees at Scott Memorial Hospital and is a former Board of Director for the United Way of Scott County. In addition, he is a member of the Scottsburg Lions Club, member of the Knights of Columbus, Moose Family Center #2324, Scott County Democrat Club, Fraternal Order of Police, Indiana State Coroner’s Association, Indiana Funeral Directors Association, Independent Funeral Directors Association of Indiana and Selected Independent Funeral Homes.

Shelby Bates

Shelby Bates has been an integral part of the funeral home team since July 2015, starting with Kevin Collins. A proud graduate of Scottsburg High School, she brings a unique and compassionate skill set to her role.
Before transitioning to the funeral industry, Shelby spent five years working in human resources, an experience that honed her deep understanding of people, communication, and client care. This background allows her to support and guide families with exceptional empathy and professionalism during their most difficult times.
Outside of her dedicated work at the funeral home, Shelby stays busy keeping up with her husband, Christian and their two sons, Warren and Barron.

Don & Sue
Don and his wife, Sue purchased the Vest Funeral Home in 1969. He graduated from St. James Catholic High School in Chester, PA, in 1954 and then completed one year at Pennsylvania Military College. Don then attended the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in Indianapolis, Indiana, graduating in 1957 as a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. For ten years, he managed the Feeney-Kirby Mortuary on Meridian Street, a subsidiary of Flanner & Buchanan Mortuaries in Indianapolis. After serving the citizens of Scott County in many capacities and operating the funeral home in Scottsburg, Don died on March 1, 2009. He made a lasting mark on the people of Scott County, and his influence continues to guide his wife, sons, and staff in the operation of the firm. His wife, Sue, continues to be very active in the business.

Emily (Stalker) Schulze brings a unique blend of artistry and technical expertise to the families of Scottsburg. A 2015 graduate of Orleans Jr. Sr. High School, Emily traveled to Vancouver, Canada, to specialize in cosmetics at JCI, an experience that now allows her to provide exceptional care and detail in her restorative work.
After returning to Indiana, she earned her degree in Mortuary Science from Vincennes University in 2018 and completed her internship at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home in French Lick. Emily joined the Collins Funeral Home team in January 2021. Outside of the office, she and her husband, Tyler, are active members of the First Christian Church. They reside in Scottsburg and recently celebrated the arrival of their son, Emmett, in February 2025.

Eric Heil is a lifelong resident of Henryville, Indiana, where he lives with his wife, Emily. Outside of his professional life, Eric enjoys spending time outdoors boating at Patoka Lake, riding dirt bike trails, and vacationing in Florida with his family. Family, community, and a love for the outdoors remain central to Eric’s life.

Michele Jackson is our Monument Retail Sales Specialist. She has been with Collins
Funeral Home since January 2026 but has been in the Monument Industry for over14
years. She grew up in Underwood, Indiana but Scottsburg has been her hometown for
the last 20 years with her husband, Rich Jackson. Rich & Michele have three grown
children & 6 grandchildren. They are huge animal lovers, love to travel, ride their Harley
but more than anything, spend time with their family.
Michele has a lot of passion for helping families honor a life and preserve a legacy. She
understands that choosing a memorial comes during one of life’s most difficult times and
considers it a privilege to walk alongside each family with compassion, patience, and
care.
